As is the case with most good ideas, HiConversion was born of a very real business need. In 2003, while managing a technology company with growing e-commerce involvement, we spent a great deal of time and money redesigning our website. When we launched the new site, we were shocked by its poor performance. The original ‘ugly’ site performed much better in the eyes of our customers.

In an attempt to solve our website conversion problem, we examined available solutions. We quickly learned that they were way out of our league in two respects. These complex mathematical modeling tools were, firstly, very expensive and second, they required a relatively elevated volume of website visitors.

Although we were a fair-sized software company, we couldn’t pay for any of the commercially available solutions. Even if we could, we didn’t have enough web traffic to complete the optimization tests in any reasonable time frame.

Realizing that 95% of all e-commerce companies were in the same boat, we decided to develop a technology that was tuned for the needs of online merchants who want to invest less but make more.
